To empower and safeguard vulnerable adults in Ashtabula County by providing compassionate, ethical and person-centered guardianship services that promote their well-being, dignity and autonomy.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where every vulnerable adult in Ashtabula County lives with dignity, security, and the opportunity to make their own choices, supported by a guardianship organization that is a model of excellence, collaboration, and advocacy.

Guardianship of the Person

Provide guidance and support to guardians in managing the personal needs of the ward, including housing, healthcare, and daily living activities.

 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  1. Mentally impaired: As a result of a mental or physical illness or disability 
  2. Intellectually Disabled: having a significant limitation in intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior
  3. Chronically Substance Abused: To the extent that they are incapable of taking proper care of themselves, their property or fail to provide for their family.
  4. Confined to a correctional institution: while incarcerated within the state 

Legal Advocacy and Advocacy for Alternative Supports

Provide legal representation and advocacy to individuals under guardianship, ensuring their rights are protected and upheld.

Explore and promote less restrictive alternatives to full guardianship, such as powers of attorney, support services, case management, Treatment teams through local agencies, etc.
